How to Dress and Look Classy All the Time

Chances are you have someone you look up to as a fashion icon. It seems that they are always dressed nicely and you want to emulate their look and class whenever you buy and try on new clothes. If you want to look classy and sophisticated all the time, it might mean that you have to donate half the clothes in your wardrobe.

Then you might think you don’t have the money to spend on new clothes. But the good news is, you don’t have to. You just need to be creative and stick to the basic. You would soon notice that in spite having fewer clothes, you don’t experience the everyday dilemma of what to wear.

Wear clothes made out of classy fabrics

One of the reasons why clothes no matter how pretty or trendy still does not look high-class is because of the fabric. Think of silk as an example. Pyjamas are usually made out of silk and even if you have been wearing the same pair for numerous years, when you wear it, you feel relaxed and luxurious even if the hem is already fraying or you feel like the fabric is already thin from wash and wear.

This is because silk is considered to be a classy fabric. No matter what piece of clothing it is (even if it is only a scarf or silk slips that you are wearing underneath your dress), wearing one and you already feel like you are walking the streets of Paris or Milan.

Wear solid neutrals

Wearing pattern does not necessarily mean you are not classy but you have to know which one works for you. But if you are in doubt, wear solid neutrals. You could not go wrong with black, white and grey. Wearing the same colour does not mean you are boring or drab because you could wear a pop of colour like a belt, shoes or even handbag. You could also try monochromatic. Meaning you are wearing one colour but in different shades.

Wear fitting clothes

When you wear clothes that are not a perfect fit, you’d look sloppy or that you borrow someone else’s clothes. You could not look classy if your clothes are too big or too small. If you could not afford tailor made clothes, make sure that the clothes you buy from a retail store fits you perfectly. Or you could alter the clothes yourself to make them fit if you are handy with a needle and a thread. If not, you could bring them to your favourite tailor or seamstress for adjustment.

Stick to simple jewelleries

If you see sophisticated and classy women, you would see that their jewelleries are simple. Make sure that only one of your jewellery takes Center Stage. If you are wearing dangling or big earrings, lose the necklace. You get the idea. Now that you are aiming to dress classily, you would also become wiser when you do your clothes shopping because now you are thinking you don’t need to buy all trendy and popular styles since your goal is to dress classy.
